Our approach has been shown to make a difference in children's lives. Playcology is an evidence-based program backed by more than 50 years of research. It is Client-Centered Play Therapy and has been shown to help with a wide variety of children's behavior and academic problems and diagnoses including: adhd, oppositional defiant disorder, sibling rivalry, depression, anxiety and grief. It is effective in helping children who have been traumatized or abused, or those who are coping with loss or the divorce of their parents. Additionally, we help with parent-child bonding and teach you how to enhance your relationship with your child.

Play therapy is a type of psychotherapy that allows children to express and communicate their feelings through play.
"Play is a language and toys are the words"
- Garry Landreth
As children, we quickly learn to express our physical needs. "I'm hungry!" "I'm hurt! I'm tired (aka "I don't want to take a nap!)" However emotional needs are a little more complicated. Because children do not always have the language to communicate their emotional needs, they often act out in ways their parents struggle to understand.

Not a child? Luma Psychology offers more than play therapy.
Not a child? Luma Psychology offers more than play therapy.
Playcology is also for parents. Instead of your child just seeing a play therapist once or twice a week, we can train you to do play therapy sessions with your child, increasing the amount of therapy your child receives exponentially!. If you're thinking you've got too much to do already, playcology's approach is a stress less approach that allows you to address your child's needs in the most efficient way. It can actually save you time and energy.
